First cabinet meeting covers jobs and election commitments

JOBS and election commitments were topics at the new government's first cabinet meeting yesterday, but cyclone clean-up took priority.

Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk said the new ministers discussed election commitments and ensured they would be honoured.

"We also talked about our jobs plan, our working Queensland documents and how we want to make sure we get as many people as possible out there into the workforce," she said.

Ms Palaszczuk also said there would be a "powerful" subcommittee of ministers, including herself, the Deputy Premier Jackie Trad, Treasurer Curtis Pitt and Training and Skills Minister Yvette D'Ath who would focus on the working Queensland document.

But, their main priority at their first cabinet meeting was the cyclone.

"That is the priority of my cabinet at the moment, it is about making sure that we rebuild these communities and make sure we get it right," she said.
