Firehouse potters have Italian Spring banquet

THE tables were set and the pasta was boiled for the first Italian night for the Firehouse potters.

The Italian night replaced the very popular soup night that was the main fundraiser for the pottery group.

Event organiser Marilyn Murray said she was thrilled with the turnout, they had 70 guests attend the evening.

"We had so much food and plenty of different dishes for all to try, something for everyone,” Mrs Murray said.

Freshly baked garlic bread and parmesan cheese was a side on all plates and washed down with a glass of red wine.

The familiar rich Italian aromas of tomatoes, garlic and onions filled the art studio, with guests flocking to the pizza oven and bar.

Mrs Murray said all the dishes had been prepared by the club members and all were very delicious.

"We have had plenty of interest in our pottery and just as much encouragement.

"The funds raised from the Italian night event will go towards new and more pottery supplies,” she said.

Childers most popular Italian Tina Mammino gave her tick of approval to all the dishes.

"I am very happy with the meal and the evening was great,” Mrs Mammino said.

The Firehouse potters worked tirelessly leading up to the event by producing stunning plates, bowls and goblets for the evening.

Guests chose a gift as a touching appreciation for supporting the pottery group.

"It was a fantastic turnout and I thank everyone for contributing to the event and for attending. We continue to grow through the generous support of the community.”

The Firehouse potters meet every Monday and encourage passionate potters to be part of the group.
