Man, 64, recovering in hospital after house fire at Minden
UPDATE 2PM: A man is recovering in hospital with burns to his face and arms following a house fire this morning at Minden.
It is understood the man, 64, attempted to enter the house in a bid to save animals that were trapped inside.
The man's family told The Queensland Times he is doing okay but is still in shock and does not remember too much from the incident.
The family, who were insured, said they would now start the long process to rebuild their lives after losing everything in the blaze.
They said family and friends had started rallying around them after they were left with just the clothes on their backs.
10AM: A man has been taken to Royal Brisbane Hospital with severe burns to his arms and face after a house fire near Minden this morning.
Emergency services were alerted to the fire on Zabel Road North at 9.40am.
The 64-year-old man was attempting to rescue animals inside the house.
Neighbours who witnessed the fire reported hearing several large explosions.
Investigations into the cause of the fire are underway.
