Fire burns over north, smoke affects east Bundaberg

FIVE Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) crews are at the scene of a bushfire burning in the vicinity of Pattersons Road, Bundaberg North.

The fire which broke out around 1.25pm today is posing no threat to property.

Crews are currently conducting back burning operations to contain the blaze.

A large volume of smoke is affecting east Bundaberg.

Residents in the area are advised to shut windows and doors and those who suffer respiratory illnesses should keep medications close by.

Motorists are advised to drive to conditions and be mindful of emergency service vehicles working in the area.

If residents feel their property is under threat, they should call Triple Zero (000) immediately.
