Final bell for Childers markets

THE Childers Arts Council has decided to discontinue the monthly Sunday markets at the Historical Complex due to the small number of organisers.

The last market was held on Sunday evening and the organisers have to be congratulated for the fine job they have done over the past 18 months.

There is always more work than can be seen on the surface and a successful market takes a lot of time and energy, usually from a small band of helpers.

The atmosphere is friendly and the grounds are always so well-presented that the outings will be missed by many stall-holders and visitors alike.

The belly dancers from the Sunshine Coast and the performing arts group from the local high school were well-received and the Mariposa Dance group members performed with their usual grace and skill.

Santa visited in an old truck and kids filled their pockets with the lollies he threw out.

It was a great market and a fitting end to all the hard work involved by the Childers Arts Council group members.
