UPDATE:

AN 18-YEAR-OLD woman has been airlifted from Mt Tibrogargan after falling 25 metres from the summit.

Peter Watson from Maroochydore Fire Station has told the Daily the woman fell from one of the more difficult parts of the mountain, called "Chicken Rock."

"It's a little technical," he said.

"We come here a lot unfortunately.

"It's very unforgiving. If you fall there you generally get pretty badly injured as in this case."

AN 18-year-old female has fallen at Mt Tibrogargan in the Glass House Mountains on the Sunshine Coast.

A representative from Queensland Fire and Emergency Services said the incident happened at about 10.15am and there are reports of a helicopter on the scene.

"We are on scene assisting with a patient rescue of an 18-year-old female who has fallen down Mt Tibrogargan," he said.

He said they have assessed the situation and they were looking to rescue her.

Queensland Ambulance Operations centre supervisor said the woman was in a stable condition and was cared for by an off duty registered nurse on site prior to their arrival.

"She has extensive facial injuries and possible spinal injuries," he said.

He said they plan to get her off the mountain by air as soon as possible.

"It is believed she was about 25 m from the summit when she fell and is reported to have fallen about 6 - 10 metres and was initially unconscious."

"She was cared for by a registered nurse before we got there."
