Felise Kaufusi selected as 18th man for Maroons

BUNDABERG’S Felise Kaufusi has been named as the 18th man for the Queensland State of Origin team in next week’s final match against New South Wales.

Rewarded for his consistent and excellent form for the Melbourne Storm, the 23-year-old could play his first match for the Maroons if another player is ruled out before the match.

The announcement was made on Wednesday by coach Kevin Walters with the team to head into Camp Maroon on Thursday as it prepares to fight for a series clean sweep against the Blues.

Kaufusi already has experience at the Sanctuary Cove camp with the former Past Brothers junior training with the team before Origin I.

Felise is the second Kaufusi to be selected for Queensland after brother Antonio Kaufusi made one appearance for the team in 2007.

With fellow brother Patrick already touted for future state honours as well, it might not be last we hear about the Kaufusi brothers playing for Queensland.

More to come.
