A MAN was formally charged in Rockhampton Magistrates Court today after a fatal truck accident on the Bruce Highway in April this year.

Glen Michael Robin Condon, 37, was charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing grievous bodily harm while intoxicated and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing death while intoxicated and leaving the scene of an incident without obtaining help.

The charges relate to an incident in Koumala where the truck Mr Condon was allegedly driving hit a van travelling in front, causing it to hit a tree.

A 59-year-old male passenger died at the scene and the second passenger, a 62-year-old man was hospitalised with injuries.

The truck left the scene by the time police arrived but was later found in Rockhampton.

Mr Condon had been refused bail two times and does not have a current bail application.

No plea has been entered.

He will face court on other charges relating to drugs and utensils on December 15.
