Farmers who irrigate to demand 33% power price cut

WIDE Bay farmers will demand an immediate 33% cut in power prices for irrigators during a May 12 meeting with Ergon Energy's chief executive officer.

Canegrowers Queensland said research showed if Mr McLeod agreed to the price cut, it wouldn't cost the government or Ergon a cent because reducing the price would increase consumption.

Fraser Coast farmers have been invited to the "make or break" electricity price forum with Ergon CEO Ian McLeod in Bundaberg.

The forum has been set up by farmers with the help of LNP Member for Burnett Stephen Bennett.
