Falcons almost break drought in Spring Cup

UNION: The Waves Falcons know their first win is not too far away after drawing 12-12 with the Barbarians on Friday night.

In one of their best performances so far they ended their 10 game losing streak by creating the first draw of the season in the Spring Cup.

Down by seven in the second half a late converted try gave the Falcons two valuable points.

Pleased with the result captain Tyler Dell said it was a much needed result.

"We've been chasing that win for a long time and the draw is one step closer (to gaining that),” he said.

"We're pretty happy.”

For the Barbarians captain Jimmy Courtice said the draw helped them maintain fourth in the important finals battle.

"We're disappointed not to win,” he said.

"The Falcons came out with a purpose to win, so good on them for getting a draw.
