Facebook flight groups expanding

THE online push for budget airlines to come to Bundaberg is hotting up, with members flooding to the two Facebook groups set up to encourage Virgin Blue and Jetstar to the region.

Yesterday afternoon the group I want Virgin Blue flights to and from Bundaberg had 5092 members, while Bring Jetstar to Bundaberg had 1507 members.

Brent Ephraims, founder of the Virgin Blue page, said he was not sure how much impact the site had but hoped the discount airline was watching.

“I understand them coming to Bundaberg relies on more than just people wanting a holiday, but this is showing the demand so that may help,” he said.

Mr Ephraims said after the rapid growth of the group when it first started, he was not surprised to have reached more than 5000 members in about three weeks.
