Elise's emotional exit from MasterChef quarter finals

DESSERT queen Elise Franciskovic is t he latest cook to get the chop from MasterChef as the reality cooking show enters it final days.

The Cairns pharmacy technician found it hard to concentrate after receiving a letter from her fiance Emanuele along with a mystery box of ingredients he chose for her.

"It isn't like me to cry and be that emotional," she told APN.

"I'm usually quite a happy person, but I just lost it and unfortunately that was my undoing."

Her panna cotta landed Elise in the second round of cooking where she had to choose from three different cooking methods: whisking, juicing or a setting agent.

"I had nothing in my head, no ideas, so I stuck to something I knew (a parfait)," she said.

"I was so emotional I forgot these simple little things I'm used to doing. It was a nightmare cook for me."

Elise has returned to her job at Cairns Hospital and plans to run a cake business part-time.

"I love to make big, extravagant-looking cakes and I'm in the process of starting my own cake business,; she said.

"I still enjoy what I do at the hospital and I want to have a nice balance between both."

She said any of the three remaining finalists - Elena Duggan, Matt Sinclair or Harry Foster - could win Tuesday's grand final.

"Honestly it's anyone's game," she said.

"Everyone's got their strengths, so say if there's a dessert challenge then Elena has it over the boys. But if it's a savoury dish then Matt and Harry are very strong in that regard."

The three finalists will cook off in the semi-final tomorrow night.
