The Queensland Civil and Administrative Tribunal (QCAT) this month revoked the registration of teacher Steven Paul Jones, 59, following evidence he told Year 5 and 7 students to kiss him.

The tribunal heard allegations Mr Jones told female pupils in mid-2007: “Come here baby, I love you, I want to have sex with you, give me a kiss.”

But Mr Jones, whose employment at an undisclosed school was terminated last year, denied he had talked about having sex with students. He argued he was “joking around with them”.

The Queensland Police Service and Education Queensland both investigated the matter.
