Easterfest wrings out and packs up for another year
THIS morning, revellers are packing up their tents and barricades are coming down after another wet but satisfying Easterfest.
It rained through much of yesterday evening's program, but organisers said it wasn't enough to dampen the spirits of Easterfest crowds.
Bass pumped out of Queens Park across the Easter break, as some of the biggest names in Christian rock music played to an audience of thousands.
Last night, hip hop artist Lecrae brought the house down at the Mainstage Finale despite much of the audience standing in water after 30mm fell by 6.30pm.
Festival-goer Zoe Clements said yesterday the rain had not stopped her enjoying the music.
"Not at all," she said.
"We came for three days. I'd say the crowds are as big today as they have been."
Event director Dave Schenk said the afternoon soaking was enough to bring memories back of the 2011 washout, but it was not on the same scale.
"We've all done plenty of wet days at festivals that haven't slowed us down much," Mr Schenk said.
"We've still got to work through (yesterday's) numbers, which probably are down a little bit. Up until yesterday, we similar numbers to last year.
"It has been an unbelievably highlight filled weekend."
Performances at cafes and restaurants kept the CBD bustling through the weekend, with only a few sets at the CBD stage relocated due to the weather.
