Eagles record vital win for Wide Bay League finals
FOOTBALL: The finals chances of the United Park Eagles remains alive after they recorded a 5-1 win over Diggers in the men's Wide Bay League on Saturday night.
With Bingera in fourth position - losing to Across The Waves 3-0 - the Eagles are now just one point behind with a game in hand.
In the other result for the round Sunbury won 6-4 in a shoot-out against Doon Villa.
The Blues now remain in sixth and are just four points away from Bingera as well.
Meanwhile in the women's Wide Bay League, the United Warriors defeated an injury ravaged Brothers Aston Villa 1-0 down in Hervey Bay.
With the win the Warriors are now just one point behind Villa in the race for second position.
In other results Sunbury won 3-0 against Doon Villa as they maintained their spot in the top four.
Finally the United Park Eagles have kept their slim finals chances alive with a 6-0 win over Diggers.
With two games in hand over the Blues, who have the last spot in the finals, the Eagles will need to win almost all of their matches if they are to defend their title in the competition.
