Duo's crime spree comes to an end
SUNSHINE Coast detectives have arrested a Bonnie and Clyde style duo after a crime spree lasting several months across Queensland's southern corner.
Police raided a Wurtulla home yesterday morning and took into custody a 22-year-old man and his girlfriend who were later charged on more than 20 offences including stealing cars, evading police and multiple break and enters.
The crime spree for which the two have been arrested began several months ago with offences in Toowoomba and the Sunshine Coast.
Officers from the Caloundra Criminal Investigation Branch and the Property Crime Squad received a tip off from a member of the public before hitting the suburban Sunshine Coast residence which was home to the alleged offender's relative.
Weapons including sawn-off shotguns and stolen property were seized.
Sunshine Coast police CIB officer in charge Daren Edwards said the man will appear in custody at Maroochydore Magistrates Court this morning and police will oppose his bail.
