Drunk driver's car crash shame

BUNDABERG police have lambasted a 40-year-old Sunshine Coast man who rolled his car on the Bruce Hwy on Monday night when he was almost four times the legal blood alcohol limit.

Sergeant Mike McLellan said the man was the sole occupant of the car, which crashed shortly before midnight about 40km north of Gin Gin.

"The driver produced a high range blood alcohol reading of 0.185%" he said.

Sgt McLellan said the crash was a timely reminder that drink driving and wet roads "do not mix".

"People just have no regard for their safety, and the safety of others," he said.

"Thankfully he wasn't injured."

The Sergeant said officers had a "zero tolerance" to this type of behaviour on our roads.

"They think it's their right to drive drunk," Sgt McLellan said.

"Especially with all the education we have, bill boards and campaigns, people continue to drink drive."

The man was charged and will appear in Bundaberg Magistrates Court at a later date.
