Driver rammed friend's car over 'affair with husband'

A WOMAN who admitted to deliberately ramming her former best friend's car over an affair has been order off the road for six months.

Ipswich Magistrates Court heard that Lynda Bernice Kercheval was driving in front of her former best friend at Bellbird Park on November 19 last year.

When both cars stopped at a give way sign, Kercheval suddenly put her vehicle into reverse and lurched backwards, hitting the vehicle behind her.

The court was told the female in the other vehicle had been having an affair with Kercheval's husband at the time, and the women were having an ongoing dispute.

Kercheval pleaded guilty to one count of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.

While noting that nobody was injured as a result of Kercheval's conduct, Magistrate Andy Cridland was quick to remind the defendant that her actions behind the wheel could have resulted in far worse consequences.

"It's a matter where you can be imprisoned for up to three years," Mr Cridland said.

"The circumstances are somewhat unusual.

"It appears you are well and truly aware of the situation and the difficulties you placed yourself in. It is a serious offence and it needs to be taken seriously," Mr Cridland said.

Kercheval was fined $750 and disqualified from driving for six months. Mr Cridland ordered for a conviction to be recorded.
