NINE kangaroos have been killed in a sickening act of cruelty near Bribie Island overnight. Two of the kangaroos were joeys.

The RSPCA said a white Toyota Land Cruiser tray-back ute with "pipe frame and mesh" on the back was seen driving up the Esplanade at Toorbul Wednesday night at 9.45 pm.

The driver deliberately swerved to hit the kangaroos.

It then came back ten minutes later, ran over one kangaroo which was lying injured on the road and hit several more.

"This is appalling," said RSPCA Qld spokesman Michael Beatty.

"If anyone has any information that can help us identify the ute or the person driving it we'd urge them to contact us on 1300 ANIMAL."

In the last two weeks a platypus was found at Karana Downs with severe head injuries, a scrub turkey was observed being bashed to death in Darra and two kangaroos were garrotted with a hand operated wire trap at Parkridge South.

The animal cruelty cases also include a mass poultry slaughter at a Morayfield home in February.

Retiree Kerry Twine, 68 and her partner Robert Venz of Adelong Ct, were left distraught after they discovered the cruel mess left in their back yard.

About 20 birds including ducks and chickens were decapitated and left around their yard.

In October last year, police released CCTV footage of those responsible for attacking two alpacas at Caboolture State High School.

The video (above) shows two males enter the school agriculture farm and torment the animals for just over ten minutes.
