Donation helps Salvos start year

THE Salvation Army's Tom Quinn Centre is set to benefit from a $2000 donation from the Sugarland Tavern.

The pub's general manager Rory O'Connor said the business put aside $1 from every ticket sold for their New Year's Eve party to help the organisation.

"We chose the Tom Quinn Centre because we wanted to keep the money local," Mr O'Connor said.

"We like to give back to the community, so when we can, we will."

Salvation Army Bundaberg spokeswoman Janette Young said the group was extremely grateful for the funds.

"This is a wonderful gesture and every dollar donated to the centre is spent wisely and well," Mrs Young said.
