Dogs return to racing today

GREYHOUNDS: After a week off the dogs are back at Thabeban Park for the first meet this month.

In a good sign for racing, today’s program one of the best fields in a while with all races having maximum numbers and some having reserve spots taken.

It is also a mix of old and new, with up to a fifth of the field race for the first time today on the sand tracks or at different distances in Bundaberg.

In race one and race two there are at least four runners competing for the first time which will make picking a winner tough for spectators and trainers.

Leading the action today will be the Stephen Bland-trained Air Cannon, with the dog looking for its second straight win in the region.

He is also chasing his seventh win this year but faces stiff competition in race seven from Malloury Queen and Spring Firechief.

Others looking to back up from wins in their last races here include Made That Way in race eight, Eden’s Chant in race five and Vaselius in race six.

Racing starts at 12.30pm.
