Division 10 candidate puts hand up

THERESA Pascoe has announced her intention to run for Division 10 in the Bundaberg Regional Council elections in 2016.

Having lived in Bundaberg for the past 27 years, Mrs Pascoe says she has a strong knowledge of the local area.

Mrs Pascoe said that raising her four children in Bundaberg confirmed her belief that the region has much to offer its residents and that the key areas she would want to focus on, if elected, were in the areas of tourism, growth of our region and sustainability.

She says she believes the Bundaberg region has much to offer in terms of tourism through to innovation and technology, with Bundaberg being the first site in the state having access to the new FTTN NBN technology.

"We also need to ensure our small businesses continue to grow so our community has more to offer our young people in the form of employment and job security," she said.

"I want to see these opportunities explored and grow into reality with a new purpose of enthusiasm and energy.

"I have a diverse background, from working on a family farm, owning and managing a small business, in my current employment managing a school tuck shop through to helping run community activities such as Sew What's Crafty and other fundraising events."

Mrs Pascoe says that her experience and skills acquired in these areas will assist her in communicating with the greater community.

Mrs Pascoe said that she will be out in the new year talking to the residents of Bundaberg and in particular those in division 10 to listen to their thoughts and ideas.

"For now, though I wish everyone a safe and merry Christmas," she said.
