Search for missing woman near Mackay enters second day

UPDATE: Police are urgently appealing for anyone in a 15-kilometre vicinity of Yalboroo to be on the lookout for missing 83-year-old woman Barbara Marincic.

Barbara went missing around 8.15am yesterday from a rural property on Tolchers Road and she has not been seen since.

Police are urging anyone travelling on the Bruce Highway at Yalboroo to be on the lookout for Barbara and anyone living in the area to search their properties, sheds and vacant houses.

Barbara has a medical condition and may appear disoriented and may not be able to find her way home.

She was last seen wearing a black dress with small, coloured flowers (pictured) and possibly wearing a straw hat.

Anyone who may have seen Barbara or has information about her location is urged to contact police.

FRIDAY, 5PM: Police have released a photo of missing woman Barbara Marincic as they continue searching for any sign of her north of Mackay.

Ms Marincic, 83, suffers a medical condition and concerns are growing for her welfare as the search for her enters its ninth hour.

She was reported missing about 8.15am today after she was last seen at a rural property on Tolchers Rd.

A land, air and water search was launched with Queensland Fire and Emergency Services swiftwater crews searching Alligator Creek for any sign of her.

It was called off after two large crocodiles were spotted by crews.

She was last seen wearing a black dress with small coloured flowers (pictured) and possibly wearing a straw hat.

Anyone who may have seen Barbara or has information about her location is urged to contact police.

EARLIER: A DESPERATE search is under way near a crocodile-infested river for a woman reported missing from a home north of Mackay.

Concerns are building for a woman, who suffers a medical condition, believed to have wandered away from a property on Polchers Rd at Yalboroo.

The woman was reported missing to police about 8.45am.

Police have spent the day doorknocking homes and searching properties, with Queensland Fire and Emergency Services searching Alligator Creek.

A QFES spokesman said swiftwater crews were working with police searching the crocodile infested water way for any sign of the woman.

A police spokeswoman appealed for anyone in the area to search their properties and report any information to authorities.

The woman is described as caucasian, about 160cm tall with short grey hair.

She was last seen wearing a black sleeveless dress with yellow flowers.

The spokeswoman said the missing woman may appear confused and be unable to find her way home.

Anyone with information is urged to phone police.
