Dempsey and Donaldson go toe-to-toe on election eve
UPDATE: A spokesperson for Member for Bundaberg Jack Dempsey said the Minister for Police, Fire and Emergency Services had been in Bundaberg since last week.
Mr Dempsey's supposed whereabouts became fodder for Labor candidate Leanne Donaldson, after she said she heard him tell voters at prepoll yesterday he would be flying to Brisbane today.
A spokesperson for Mr Dempsey said the Bundaberg MP had been in town "since last Wednesday", and this morning announced funding for RSPCA Queensland.
See their online exchange below.
EARLIER: As Premier Campbell Newman and Opposition Leader Annastacia Palaszczuk debated for the final time before tomorrow's election Bundaberg rivals Jack Dempsey MP and Leanne Donaldson took a more 21st century route for their own spat.
The pair traded shots on Twitter, using the social network medium to call each other out for a range of lies.
The slanging match stemmed from Labor candidate Ms Donaldson accusing of Mr Dempsey of lying to prepoll voters yesterday.
When the NewsMail clicked the link it Facebook said the page could not be found, so the contents remain a mystery (feel free to let us know Ms Donaldson). Mr Dempsey followed that effort up with a photo outside the prepoll booths in Bundaberg.
@BundyLeanne that's a lie Leanne. - teamJD— Jack Dempsey (@JackDempseyMP) January 30, 2015
The exchange follows a similar path, as other Twitter users added their two bobs' worth to the discussion. Ms Donaldson even suggested a solution to the LNP leadership discussion should Campbell Newman lose Ashgrove.
@JackDempseyMP and I'd like you to deny you were in Brisbane earlier today Jack— Leanne for Bundy. (@BundyLeanne) January 30, 2015
And it continued....
@JackDempseyMP did Jack go to Brisbane today like I heard him telling people at Prepoll yesterday or didn't he? Yes or No?— Leanne for Bundy. (@BundyLeanne) January 30, 2015
@BundyLeanne were you in Burnett this morning? Not in Brisbane, haven't been for a while - teamJD— Jack Dempsey (@JackDempseyMP) January 30, 2015
