Dell's life on the page

EDUCATIONIST Dell Craig sat down more than a decade-and-a-half ago to write a university textbook – and wrote her autobiography instead.

She put the manuscript away until 2008, then completed and polished it, and this year finally found a publisher.

“I tried some Australian publishers but they said it did not fit into their schedules, so I put it on the internet,” Mrs Craig said.

She was later contacted by Eloquent Books, part of the Strategic Book Group, who agreed to publish the autobiography.

The book, A Confounded Nuisance, chronicles Mrs Craig’s life from growing up in Roma in the 1940s to her family’s move to Bundaberg.

Mrs Craig is very happy with the deal she has signed with the US-based company to have her books published.

Ironically, Mrs Craig said writing a book about her life had changed it.

“I decided to write this and all of a sudden I’m a business,” she said.

“It’s very exciting and I’m having a lot of fun.”
