Defence to get a work-out

THE finalists have been decided in Division 1 netball with results going as predicted paving the way for plans ATW Gold drew up a few weeks ago to be put into action.

ATW Gold defeated ATW Blue, 44-31 in a tough game which will serve as good preparation to the first final against Blazers Luxfield.

The other finalists had wins with Blazers defeating Brothers Cyclones 54-35 and Alloway belting Brothers Hurricanes 53-28 setting up an interesting weekend of semi-final matches.

ATW Gold coach Sandy Baker said her team's opponents at the weekend had played well ensuring the frontrunners got a good hit out before the finals' action started.

"It was a good game, Blue had improved a hell of a lot this season and we needed a tough game and Blue gave us that," Baker said.

"We had been working on our defence and not just in the circle but the whole court. And defence can enable us to win the game against Blazers."

In the other final Alloway plays ATW Blue and Baker confirmed Alloway were "in for a challenge".
