Dale Shearer pleads guilty

FORMER Queensland and Australian rugby league great Dale Shearer has pleaded guilty to charges brought by the Australian Securities and Investment Commission.

Shearer, who now lives on the Sunshine Coast, had faced one count of failing to deliver all books of a company to a liquidator and one count of "failure to comply with requirements to make out and verify report of the affair".

Ferrier Hodgson had been appointed as liquidator of Shearer's Peregian Springs business, Just Cruzin Pty Ltd, in November 2008.

Ferrier Hodgson produced business accounts to ASIC in May 2009 indicating no money was expected to be paid to the company's one director who was owed more than $180,000.

The former Origin player was critically injured when he rolled his four-wheel-drive in February.

His wife died from cancer in 2008.

Shearer is yet to be sentenced.

More information will be published when it becomes available.
