Curd and Thomas claim mixed fours

THE Bargara mixed foursomes championships were contested over 27 holes the Sunday before last.

The winners were Jordan Curd and Nikita Thomas with 188 from Josh Turner and Jan Thomas on 122.

Winners of the nett event were Gary Craig and Liz Hahn with 100 from Ken Ford and Bev Gatley 105.

LAST Thursday the men played a 4BBB stroke and the winners were Fred Houlahan and Kevin Matthews. Their 15-under-par 57 was just two shots better than Ed Stevens and Allan Algie.

The women played a stroke event and the winner was Julie Brown with 70.

Saturday was the first round of the Bess Brady Memorial 4BBB stroke championship and the leaders are Joan Milton and Carol Gaul on 82 gross.

The day's nett event went to Jill Glover and Marg Taylor with 63 nett after a countback.

Others on 63 were Leone Burton and Chris Algie, and Kerri Bowman and Jo Caldwell.

The men played a monthly medal and the A-grade winner was Harry Burden with 70 nett.

B-grade winners were Dennis Bowman and Alf Ramett with 65 and 67 respectively, and the C-grade winner was Russell Fisher with 64.

THERE will be no chicken run at Bargara this Friday due to the Look Good – Feel Better Charity Golf Day.

This Saturday is the second round of the Bess Brady Memorial 4BBB stroke championship.

The annual general meeting of the Bargara Golf Club will be held in the clubhouse on Wednesday, September 15, starting at 6pm.

Entries for the popular Bargara Ladies Classic to be held on October 11-13 are coming in fast.

Even though it is only early there are already 130 nominated and it is possible that nominations may have to be limited.

With numbers like this, Val Bazley will be looking for partners for the many visiting ladies in the mixed 4BBB on Sunday, October 10.
