Kalkie fire extinguished

Update 5.20pm: 

CREWS have vacated the scene of a fire that was burning at the end of Kalkie and McGill's Rd earlier this afternoon. 

A Queensland Fire and Emergency spokesperson said crews were initially called at 12.22 to a grass and tree fire. 

One crew attended the scene, assisted landholders and ensured a nearby property was safe before leaving at about 1.40pm. 

 

 

Earlier - 12.30pm: REPORTS of a vegetation fire in Kalkie are being investigated by fire crews.

A Queensland Fire and Emergency spokesman said a call had reported both grass and trees were on fire at the far end of Kirby's Rd and McGill's Rd, Kalkie.

At about 12.40, fireys were attending the scene to verify the report.
