Crash ignites blaze

A CAR carrying three people erupted into flames after it slammed into a tree on Branyan Dr yesterday morning.

Bundaberg police Sergeant Graham Bubb said the teenage driver lost control of the Ford Falcon and collided with a tree at 1.20am.

Sgt Bubb said the car ignited after impact, but the three passengers managed to escape the wreck.

"The 19-year-old driver was transported to Bundaberg Hospital with a suspected fractured leg," he said.

"He is in a stable condition."

Queensland Fire and Rescue Bundaberg station officer Justin Groth said the fire was extinguished within 40 minutes.

Mr Groth said two trucks were sent to the scene - one for water supply and the other to put out the blaze.

Police investigations are continuing.
