Craft beers are brewing for city’s latest festival
THREE of the city's most popular pubs have brewed up an exciting event for Toowoomba beer lovers.
There aren't many better ways to celebrate the end of spring than drinking craft beer with your mates on a warm sunny day.
The city's inaugural beer festival Brewoomba is the brainchild of the Spotted Cow owner Phil Coorey.
Brewoomba is a partnership between the Spotted Cow, the Mort Estate Hotel and Tapestry Bar.
Mr Coorey said the idea was inspired by other beer festivals around the world.
"All the pubs involved have an inherent love of craft beer and we are all working together towards a common goal of bringing something new to town," he said.
"We are all really excited to work together to bring the festival to Toowoomba.
"It's a chance to showcase some beers that we haven't been able to in the past and also work with breweries in a way we have never worked with them before."
Craft beer will be available on tap and a shuttle bus will be making rounds between the venues.
One of the most respected brewers in Australia, Ian Watson, is also working to create a one-off Brewoomba beer, crafted from our region's grains.
Former Easterfest organiser Dave Schenk is on board as event coordinator and said there was a growing culture in Toowoomba around food, wine and beer.
"The craft beer culture has been growing like crazy in the past couple of years and now everyone is on the bandwagon," he said.
"As soon as the breweries found out that the festival was being driven by the partnership between the three pubs they were really excited."
Brewoomba kicks off from midday on Saturday, November 14.
