Court hears of nude, rude Christmas carol feud

A RAPID Creek schoolteacher who police allege was carolling "aggressively" at her neighbours, parading naked in front of them and hosting noisy, drunken house parties in the well-heeled neighbourhood is defending the charges in the Darwin Local Court.

Amanda Jane Sheahan, 41, pleaded not guilty to four counts of unreasonably causing substantial annoyance and one count of behaving offensively in a dwelling house.

Sheahan's neighbours on Ryland Rd, Graeme Rogers and Stacey Montgomery, told the court they moved to the "reasonably up-market area" in 2014 because it seemed like a nice neighbourhood.

But Mr Rogers said that all changed when they returned from a trip to Singapore in April last year to find Sheahan and her partner had moved in next-door.

The allegations relate to a series of incidents in which prosecutors say Sheahan played loud music, sang loudly and otherwise made excessive noise into the early hours of the morning.

In a phone call during one of the alleged piss-ups on September 25 played to the court, Mr Rogers told police Sheahan was "very drunk" and "singing aggressively at us".

"She just gets very drunk and very loud and carries on like a tool," he said.

Mr Rogers said he complained to police about Sheahan calling him "an arsehole" but was told "they didn't believe there was a law that said she can't call me an arsehole".

Ms Montgomery said Sheahan had started playing loud music "immediately" after Mr Rogers pulled into their driveway that afternoon and she saw her "staggering" on the veranda.

"She looked directly at us and the music was being played for us," she said.

Later that night, Ms Montgomery said she again saw a drunken Sheahan crawling on her hands and knees on the balcony and leaning against a wall.

"She was topless and had her arms up in the air and I can't unsee her breasts," she said. "She said she had 'one last card to play'."

In another incident on December 2, after again calling police on Sheahan, Ms Montgomery said she looked out her window and again saw her intoxicated on the veranda.

"I saw her naked, a cigarette in one hand, a glass of wine in the other," she said.

Ms Montgomery said Sheahan sang in "a very loud, abrasive voice" and her repertoire included "F*** you, f*** you," and "I'm a happy motherf***er."

The hearing continues.
