Course aims to buck jobless trend

BUNDABERG may have one of the state’s highest unemployment rates, but the Career Training Company is hoping to buck the trend.

Unemployed residents could soon be in a job, with a training course offering people aged 17 to 25 the help they need.

Managing director Kerri Savidge said it was most difficult for this age group to enter the workforce.

“Bundaberg has one of the highest unemployment rates for 17- to 25-year-olds and this employment-focused training could be the ideal way for these participants to break the cycle and become actively engaged,” she said.

The skills-based training concentrates on employment areas including hospitality, retail, business, cleaning and construction.
