Couple hits jackpot with Las Vegas win

THE owners of Bundaberg Beds R Us will be heading to Las Vegas next year after cleaning up at a national conference.

Darren and Melinda Scheuer won not one, but three awards from Australia's biggest bedding manufacturer - Sleepyhead and Sleepmaker Bedding.

Sleepyhead's Kurt Osborne congratulated the Scheuers and the Bundaberg team on their wins.

"The Platinum Growth Award is only awarded to stores with growth of over 20%. The Exceptional Sales Performance Award is only given to the top Platinum store in the group of over 75 stores," Mr Osbourne said.

"Last, but definitely not least, is the award for growth that entitles you to a study tour of the Las Vegas Furniture Show, which goes to only the top three stores for growth in 2014."

Mrs Scheuer said manufacturers from over the globe displayed at the Las Vegas show, one of the biggest in the world.

"American bedding manufacturers are constantly exploring new technologies and the health benefits found in all bedding-related products," she said.

The trip - in January - will include visits to some of the largest bedding retailers in the world.

Mrs Scheuer said that for a small, locally-owned and operated business in such a relatively small city to achieve such great results was a credit to their customers and the people of Bundaberg.

The couple have owned Bundaberg Beds R Us & Furniture Court for more than seven years and believe keeping abreast of the newest trends and technologies, as well as ensuring staff undergo specialist training, have contributed to their growth and success.

"We are proudly locally-owned and operated (and) we employ local staff," Mrs Scheuer said. "We love hearing our customers are happy and healthy from receiving a good night's sleep."
