AN ELDERLY couple has been involved in a single vehicle accident on the Bruce Highway this afternoon, 50km north of Gin Gin.

A man and woman, both aged in their 70s, crashed their car down an embankment hitting a tree just after 12pm.

The Bundaberg-based RACQ CareFlight Rescue helicopter was called in to airlift the woman to hospital after she suffered leg and back injuries in the crash.

CareFlight flew her to Bundaberg Hospital in a stable condition.

The man was treated for minor injuries on-scene before being transported to hospital by ambulance.
