Country roll City in annual showdown

THE annual City v Country competition was played last Saturday at Across The Waves Bowls Club.

City could only muster 12 rinks to Country’s 14.

Two Country teams were forced to play each other.

The result was similar to 2008 when Country won, except this time Country inflicted an even bigger defeat with a 277-182 demolition, a staggering 95 shots.

City won only three of their 12 rinks.

Best performed City club was Across The Waves, using local knowledge to win two of its three rinks.

Country club Bargara won on all of its three rinks.

A great day was had by all, however the Country side seemed to enjoy it more.

Bowls Queensland State Pennant finals will be played at Bribie Island on November 28-29, 2009.

This is the last of the state events involving clubs for 2009.

Tantitha Bowls Club will represent Group 6 comprising Bundaberg Port Curtis/Central Queensland Districts.

The Association Dinner planned for Friday, November 27 at the 4th Green Bistro located at Burnett Bowls Club, will not go ahead due to insufficient numbers.
