Council warns of dodgy number painting service
BUNDABERG Regional Council has taken to social media to warn locals about allowing unauthorised people to paint numbers on their kerbs.
Some residents have been approached by people offering to paint new numbers on their house kerbs, charging between about $30-50 for doing so.
It is believed the people offering to paint the letters have said that it could make it easier for emergency services to spot their house numbers.
However, the council said it wanted residents to be cautious.
"The kerb is council infrastructure and any person wishing to place any number on the kerb must receive written authorisation from council," a spokesperson said.
"Council understands that approaches have been made, and, in some instances, money paid to have the numbers applied to the kerbside.
"Residents should be suspicious of anyone passing themselves off as authorised installers of these numbers and should request to view a council letter of authorisation."
