Council warn of leak in gas pipeline

THE District Disaster Co-ordination Centre at Bundaberg wishes to notify all people and particularly residents living in the vicinity of the high pressure gas pipeline running between Miriam Vale and Bundaberg that a leak has currently been detected in this pipeline. 

Action is being taken to ascertain the location of this leak so as it can be repaired. 

Police request for all persons to be vigilant and advice from experts is that this leak will predominantly be able to be heard as a loud roaring sound from over 100 metres away and may even be able to be seen as a mist cloud. 

The gas in odourised and so the leak may also be able to be smelt. 

Supply to the pipeline has been turned off, however it may take some hours for the pipeline to be de-pressurised.

If anyone suspects that they may have located this leak they are requested to stay well clear of the leak and immediately contact the Police District Disaster Coordination Centre on 1300 883 699 or Bundaberg Police on 4153 9100 or 000.
