Council wants nominations

RESIDENTS are being encouraged to nominate people who have excelled in their chosen field or contributed behind the scenes for an Australia Day award.

Bundaberg Mayor Lorraine Pyefinch said nominations were now open in 10 categories and the region's community, sporting and service groups and residents were urged to consider nominating people.

Categories include Young Citizen (up to 27 years), Citizen (over 27 years) and Senior Citizen (over 70 years), junior, senior and open age sports achievement, junior and senior cultural, Community Event of the Year and Community Achievement.

Cr Pyefinch said the categories allowed residents involved in all aspects of community, service, cultural and sporting life to be recognised with an award.

This year's awards saw residents from around the Bundaberg region recognised for their outstanding efforts.
