Council to relocate charity

BETTER Hearing Bundaberg is being asked to move from offices they have held for 15 years by the Bundaberg Regional Council.

The group currently occupies two council-owned rooms on Woongarra Street, for a minimal annual rent.

At a council meeting last week it was decided to ask the group to relocate to vacant offices in the civic centre with the School of Arts building to be used for Better Hearing's weekly meetings for an additional $11 per week.

Bundaberg Regional Councillor David Batt said at the meeting, the rooms occupied by the group would be used as a council records room.

Council will pay for the relocation of an audio loop amplifier and equipment to the School of Arts building.

If council were to rent a similar-sized space for record storage rent would cost more than $14,000 per year.

Better Hearing Bundaberg president Pam Barry said a decision will be made about the offices at the next meeting of the group.
