Council call centre hours cut
BUNDABERG Regional Council’s call centre will scale down emergency operations from tonight.
Local Disaster Management Group acting chairman Dave Batt said the call centre staff had done a magnificent job.
“The Call Centre has been operating 24 hours a day since the floods hit and have handled 1,800 calls,” Cr Batt said.
“With the majority of people now registered for assistance, it has been decided to give staff a well earned rest and cease 24 hour operations from 7pm tonight. The After Hours Emergency Response team will still be available at all hours.”
The council will resume normal operations from tomorrow, with the administration centre in Bundaberg and service centres in Bargara, Childers and Gin Gin open from 8.15am until 4.45pm Monday to Friday.
Cr Batt urged everyone who has been affected by the floods and who has not registered with Council to do so.

“Their details will be put on a register and the appropriate help given,” Cr Batt said.
“The council has crews ready on standby to help, whether it’s hosing down a flood affected home or business or removing flood-affected items.”
