Council adopts Annual Report
PRODUCING an annual report is a regulatory requirement of the council and last week Bundaberg Regional Council adopted its 2014/2015 Annual Report.
Bundaberg Mayor Mal Forman said the Annual Report presents an overview of council operations and advises the community and other stakeholders of the council's performance over the past 12 months.
"The report details the financial undertakings of council for the financial year ending June 2015 including borrowings and community financial reports.
"The document allows council to benchmark areas of operation under council control and clearly displays to our community and stakeholders our outcomes in the delivery of services and general operational efficiency."
Cr Forman said the annual report is audited by external auditors and he was delighted that the Queensland Audit Office had returned a positive assessment of the council's report.
"The audit reported only minor issues. Council has maintained its good record of achieving an unqualified and unmodified audit."
In his Mayor's report which formed part of the annual report, Cr Forman said council had remained "future focussed" and proactive in creating an environment for investment and development.
"It is satisfying that several major retailers have their sights on Bundaberg with several already committed to either enlarging their presence or building new stores."
Cr Forman said the report was an extremely useful document and provided key information that was useful to government agencies as well as industry and commerce and potential investors to the region.
