Bundaberg residents urged to donate blood
CRUMB on down is the message being delivered from the Blood Service to all Bundaberg community members over the next two weeks in a bid to help fill the appointment shortfall.
Community members are being urged to book an appointment to give blood and eat Australia's best biscuit.
Australian chefs Donna Hay, Adriano Zumbo, Matt Moran and Neil Perry have joined the cause and all agreed that the biscuit you got after donating blood was the best biscuit you would ever taste.
Blood Service spokesman Barry Lynch said the need for additional appointments was spurred by a late peak in flu season which had forced existing donors to cancel in greater numbers than expected.
To anyone considering donating, Mr Lynch said giving blood felt great, it only took an hour, and donors would get to relax and enjoy Australia's best biscuit and a cup of tea afterwards.
