Coast teams head into Bundaberg battle in prime time

FRASER Coast's remaining Bundaberg Rugby League A-grade teams will have to wait even longer for their chance at a grand final spot.

Kick-off in the preliminary final between Hervey Bay Seagulls and Wallaroos has been delayed until 7pm, back from its original 6.30pm slot, due to the Bundaberg Junior Rugby League's grand finals.

The BJRL agreed to host the final at either Bundaberg or Maryborough, dependent on the majority of teams that qualify.

The delay isn't a huge change given the originally scheduled start, which will be played at Bundaberg's Salter Oval.

But the game's estimated 8.45pm finish time gives more ammunition to those who believe the preliminary finals should be played elsewhere.

Six of the teams involved in Saturday's preliminary final are from the Fraser Coast.

Hervey Bay will field teams in A-grade, under-18s and women's, Wallaroos in A-grade and U18s, and Maryborough Brothers in reserve grade.

Isis will feature in the women's final with Wests in reserve grade.

The winner of each game will face Past Brothers, after all four of the club's teams directly qualified for the grand final.

All senior games, starting with the women's preliminary final between Isis and Hervey Bay at 3pm, were shifted half an hour to accommodate the junior finals, presentation, as well as possible extra time periods.
