It's understood Mr Williamson received the test results yesterday afternoon and would be transferred to hospital today.

A charter flight will fly passengers from the Diamond Princess to Australia today, where they will remain in isolation for a further two weeks.

It's not yet known how Mr Williamson's diagnosis will affect his wife.

More to come.
