Coalition pegs $2b for cancer

THE Coalition will deliver more than $2 billion to cancer medicines, research and services this year alone, Federal Health Minister Sussan Ley said.

Ms Ley said cancer was a national health priority and strategies had been outlined in a plan by the national cancer control agency, Cancer Australia, to reduce the disparity in cancer outcomes between regional and metropolitan areas.

The Coalition had approved more than $1.9 billion of cancer medicine listings since being in government and had invested $178.3 million in a National Cancer Screening Register, she said.
