Club Hotel's front bar set to reopen

ONE of Bundaberg's favourite night spots is set to re-open its front bar after receiving a facelift.

The Club Hotel's front bar has been closed to the public for about two months as the owner and manager, Simon Thompson, funded a modernisation of the popular dance area.

Mr Thompson said the refurbishment was just a part of a string of planned renovations at the pub.

"With the new front bar, we are trying to encourage the after-work crowd on a Friday night," he said.

Mr Thompson said DJs would continue to play at the bar on weekends, but the bigger space would mean about 100 more people could enjoy the ambience of the hotel.

The newly refurbished front bar will be open to the public from 5pm today.

Mr Thompson said he was looking forward to putting in motion other planned renovations to the club.

"We are looking at renovating upstairs into two different function rooms," he said.

Mr Thompson would not say how much had been spent on the renovations, except to say it had been a "significant amount".
