Cities aim for three-peat in men's hockey decider

HOCKEY: There will be no love lost between Cities and All Blacks when they battle for Division 1 hockey bragging rights today.

Bitter rivals on the field, neither side shows any signs of stopping that as Cities fight for their third-straight title in the grand final at Hinkler Park at 6pm.

"The rivalry has been going for a long time,” Cities captain Brodie Latham told the NewsMail.

"We've been training all season to prepare and be ready for these games.”

So far this season, Cities have had the advantage.

The side is unbeaten in previous clashes with a 1-1 draw two weeks ago the closest All Blacks have got against the team.

"We had a couple of players out that match but they should be back,” Latham said.

"They have a very strong midfield so we need to control that and defend well.”

All Blacks coach Rikki Elder said the side was out for revenge.

"A couple of years ago they beat us, so we want to make sure we win the premiership,” he said.
