Christmas warning for online shoppers

AS AN increasing number of Queenslanders turn to online shopping this Christmas, the Office of Fair Trading is warning consumers to be cautious, particularly if purchasing from overseas.

Attorney-General and Minister for Justice Jarrod Bleijie said online shopping was a convenient option for busy shoppers, but many didn't realise they may be sacrificing their consumer rights in order to bag a bargain.

"While online shopping is handy for some, it poses challenges around security and dispute resolution that may not be experienced with more traditional retail shopping," he said.
