Childers families invited to Community Lunch Box

CORRECT nutrition can have a significant impact on a child's concentration, school readiness and general wellbeing.

Thanks to funding from Australian Early Development Index (AEDI), Bundaberg Regional Council is inviting Childers families with children aged under five years of age to a Community Lunch Box.

Community Services portfolio spokeswoman Judy Peters said during the free event parents could speak with a dietician as well as enjoy a healthy lunch box.

"Lunch is on us for everyone who registers their attendance which gives everyone the opportunity to see examples of a healthy packed lunch," Cr Peters said.

"This is a wonderful opportunity for parents to access great advice and tips to help give their kids a headstart into a healthy and productive life."

The first Community Lunch Box will be held on February 18 at Honeybears Playgroup from 11am to 1pm and on February 21 at Little Vegemites Playgroup from 11am to 1pm.

Parents can register with participating playgroups at 14 Hinkler St, Childers or by phoning the Childers Neighbourhood Centre on 4130 4690.

The Community Lunch Box is the third of six events to be held in the Childers area under the AEDI funding.
